About us

We're a well funded, fast-growing start-up. We're looking for a Haskell Developer to join our team on a contract or permanent basis for an exciting new consumer-facing system build.

About the role

The Haskell piece is a real time platform built around the idea of folding a stream of events into the states that comprise our system. Obviously this is a very natural idea in functional programming, hence the choice of Haskell for implementation. If you're familiar with the concept of event sourcing, and/or you've read out of the tar pit then you'll already have a pretty good idea of what we're trying to achieve.

The platform is built on top of postgresql and json, with the pipes ecosystem of libraries providing the plumbing and technical rigour that we're looking to achieve. There will also be a web services layer and lots of ancillary stuff going on for which Haskell will be assessed on a piece by piece basis. Over the top of all this will be the web application, and the usual plethora of mobile applications.

About you

We're looking for someone with "real world" production experience of Haskell ideally (while recognising that there's a somewhat untapped pool of people who love Haskell and are good at it, but haven't had an opportunity to do it at their day job yet). Additional skills and experience that we'd regard highly are:

• Web experience - any front end work you've done, especially with Angular.
• Financial experience - a lot of the ideas in the platform have grown out of dissatisfaction in building trading systems.
• Architecture "stuff" ØMQ, Elastic Search, rabbitmq, Cloud Haskell, Continuous Integration - anything sexy you've done or like. Wow us!

What next?

We're looking for a Haskeller to join the team soon, and we'll need you to work in our Covent Garden offices initially. We're a five minute walk from the Northern, Piccadilly and Central lines. It's a great part of town to work in and hopefully your commute won't be difficult. As a member of our team you'll be working directly with the two co-founders, senior technical developer and a front end developer. In addition, you'll be working alongside a senior marketing director whose dual role will be to build brand awareness and maximise system functionality for customers and market leaders in design and branding to ensure our system offers a best-in-class look, feel and user experience.

We'll consider a daily rate of up to £500 for contract or we'll pay the right salary for the right candidate. Given the nature of the system and the latent demand within this virtually untapped market, we expect growth to be substantial once we're up and running. As such, we fully expect the team to grow rapidly and will look to involve you in our growth.
